The Children’s Ministry offers an inclusive and safe ministry for children birth through fifth grade that embraces diversity and equips children and their families to know, grow, and show God’s love through faith formation, fellowship, and fun.
All the volunteers in our Children’s Ministry are trained on our Abuse Prevention Policy, background-checked, and educated on the goal of making Greenwood Forest an inclusive and safe place for children to thrive.
Nursery and Preschool in the Rainbow Room
We have space for our littlest community members in the Rainbow Room where they can learn and play both during Faith Formation and Sunday Worship. There are books, toys, instruments and more for all children to have fun and feel at home.
Faith Formation in The Wonder Room
During Faith Formation (9:45-10:45am on Sundays), our children get to play in a room built just for them called The Wonder Room! The space is designed for discovery- and exploration-based learning in four different experiences: play, reading, crafts, and church. Each section responds to different needs and learning styles for a unique experience for every child. Your kids will create, learn, play, and discover more about God here!
Children’s Choirs
Our children’s choirs meet as part of the Faith Formation hour for eight weeks in the fall and eight weeks in the spring. They will all play musical games, learn basic music skills, and explore how they can praise God through music.
Special Children’s Ministry Events
The Children’s Ministry plans and hosts events throughout the year that are especially inclusive of children. Many of them are not just for children, though, but for everyone! The Fall Festival and the Souper Love Feast are intergenerational events where we join in fellowship together. At the Fall Festival, we have cooking contests for adults and children, games, music, and more! At Souper Love Feast, we make Advent wreaths to take home with us and learn about what all the symbols of the wreath mean. We also have delicious treats!
Other special events throughout the year include a Birthday Party for Jesus around Christmas, a Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper, Passport Camp for kids, and Vacation Bible School. Please consult the church calendar for more information.
