Born in California, Carolyn grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She graduated from Dallas Baptist University with a BS and earned an MRE from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. After seminary, Carolyn served with the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma in the Woman's Missionary Union Department for 2 years before coming to the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina where she served with Woman's Missionary Union for more than 26 years, first as Acteens consultant, then as Women on Mission consultant, and finally as Missions Growth consultant. While with the Convention she had opportunities to travel to several states and overseas including Alaska, Puerto Rico, Brazil, and South Africa leading mission conferences for women.

At Greenwood Forest, Carolyn's responsibilities include working with all adults. She is the liaison with the Senior Adult leadership and the Caregiving Deacons. She will work with the other church ministerial staff and interested church groups regarding hospital visitation, organizing homebound visitation, and providing pastoral care for all adults. She will work with the Family Life Commission on family and cross-generational programs as well as in-reach ministry teams. Carolyn will develop and lead a congregational prayer ministry. She will be the contact person for the external groups that use our facilities.
