Warmth for the Wounded
Members of the Joy Sunday School Class have been involved in a "Warmth
for the Wounded" project to make oversized blankets for wounded
servicemen at Walter Reed Hospital and Womack Army Hospital in Fort
Bragg. Class members are inviting interested persons from the
community-at-large to participate in this project. Especially needed
are those who have portable sewing machines. Materials for each blanket
costs about $20, so the church has established a special "Warmth for the
Wounded" fund for those who would like to contribute. So far over 400
quilts have been completed and delivered to amputees from the Iraq War
being treated at Womack Army Hospital in Fort Bragg.
Everyone is welcome to come to the sewing bee held about once a month in the Fellowship Hall. Bring scissors or your portable sewing machine plus a snack to share. Seamstresses will be on hand to assist. For further information, call the church office at 467-0481 or check the church calendar for dates and times.
