Mission Spotlight - Wake Interfaith Hospitality Network

When I was first asked to get involved with Wake Inter-faith Hospitality Network (WIHN), I was very intimidated. Sure…I work with the disabled and disadvantaged everyday, but could I really be a good volunteer for this initiative. Could I be objective, could I be ‘real’-could I be the person Christ would want doing this? I wasn’t sure, to be honest-but I said yes anyway. Am I glad I did!

WIHN has become a major part of my worship experience. I have found the families to open, hard-working, faithful people-people just like our members at Greenwood Forest Baptist Church. The families want the same things we all do-to do well by their families, have a good job, a nice place to live, etc.-sound familiar? WIHN indeed opens a world of possibilities-to see the world from a new perspective, to be a bigger part of one’s community, to find new opportunities for one’s family. Oh…by the way…this world of possibilities that I just referred to was and is for me-and you. Sure, the families that are program participants get a lot out of WIHN-but I don’t believe they get what I do. I get the chance to do all the things I mentioned earlier-all the while growing closer to my Lord and my God in the process. What a winning proposition!!

So, in closing, come be a part of WIHN-start slow or jump right in-whatever works for you!! Come and discover new adventures, friends, and, indeed, a world of possibility!!
